A ploua cu găleata

A ploua cu găleata – It’s raining buckets, for reasons that it sounds better in English I translated the singular with the plural. The weather in Romania has been all sunny these days but from the looks of it and considering the weather forecast we’re getting about a week’s time of rain. However, I am not entirely certain if it will rain with buckets or not 📚. Now if you were to ask me “a ploua cu găleata” – this still sounds way more logical than the English version “it’s raining cats and dogs”, this is basically the English version of a ploua cu găleata, if you are still confused by this expression just so you know that it’s raining heavily or pouring down.
Personally, I find this expression as a rare case of logical one. When it is raining heavily one could imagine if heshe were to throw a whole bucket of water on someone that that person would be soaked, most likely. In my childhood we would play a lot with water and I remember once been soaked because one of my neighbours threw a whole bucket on me – and just like I said before a bucket of water is serious business 📚. The only lack of logic would be that in the expression it’s raining only with a bucket and not more, I think this is rather because regardless of being logical or not idioms must sound good and languages have their own melody somehow.
E.g. Ce vreme urâtă, numai bună de dormit! Plouă cu găleata de ieri.
