A se pune cu burta pe carte – hitting the books 

Romanian people don’t just start studying for exams, they put their bellies on the books, as you can also imagine that Englishmen don’t just start hitting books just like that…they start taking studying pretty seriously.
This is a pretty good expression, as in Romania, not only the season of heat started but also the season of exams and
most Romanians will most likely learn in 1-2 weeks what they have not learnt in four years.
Ex. – Nu pot ieși, trebuie să mă pun cu burta pe carte, am examen curând.
– Baftă!
