A-i cânta cuiva în strună

A-i cânta cuiva în strună – to sing to somebody at the chord. At times it is just hard to do a rough translation from Romanian to English and to sound…nice…even though they absolutely have no meaning in English.🎻🎻🎻
This expression uses again the verb “a cânta” (to sing) and if you look up in any dictionary it might give you as an equivalent “play along”, however, this just did not feel enough thus a potential version in English could be “to dance to somebody’s tune”. 🎼🎼🎼
This idiom was often used in my childhood by one of my parents in disagreement when the other simply wanted to be supportive and get on our good side .
Ex: – Unde sunt cei mici?
– Afară!
– Nu ai zis că sunt pedepsiți?
– Ba da, da’ le cântă ta-su în strună.🎻🎻🎻

Ta-su – honestly I have no clue if I spellt this properly, it means “their father” and it is a really colloquial version.
